Mother’s Day gives us a chance to express our love and appreciation to this very special person in our lives! Mothers are our joy and inspiration. On this occasion, let’s spend time with our mothers, young and old. Visiting them at home or inviting them out. It’s also a tradition to share a special brunch/meal together. This Quilt and Gift store, owned by Leslie and Melissa Emery was opened in 2002. It is known as ‘a place where friendships grow’ and has become a popular destination place. Melissa Emery says, “We’ve created a community here. We enjoy meeting and interacting with all our customers.” In Between Stitches offers a wide selection of superior cotton fabrics that can be used to create heirloom quality items. Emery explains that this is a niche market and quilters seek them out as the store carries 3 to 5 new lines of fabrics on a monthly basis. They also offer pre-packaged kits and home décor items like vases and candles. As well as charming gifts like purses, stationery, tea-pots and baby items. You are sure to find something here that will please mum on Mother’s Day.

If you really want to surprise her, why not buy her a Gift Certificate for a class? In Between Stitches has ongoing classes held at their large, bright new location on First Street . They cover all levels from Introduction to Advanced. Mum can choose from Technique Classes like Beginning Quilting and Applique to Machine Quilting. Decorated with Victorian flair and elegance, the tea-room is well-known for its variety of tea service, including the 5-course Lady Lety’s Tea. There is also a children’s menu and an A la Carte menu to choose from.

Owners Lety Santiestevan and Arnis Kapostins have traveled the world, enjoying afternoon tea at various hotels and restaurants. When they opened the August Tea Room in Livermore , it was ‘a dream come true’! “I enjoy people, entertaining and decorating…it is my passion,” says Lety Santiestevan. This is certainly reflected in the comments and reviews left on the teamap.com website. One guest sums it up when she writes that she felt like a Queen!

This Mother’s Day weekend, you can take the Queen of your family to the August Tea Room to celebrate this happy occasion. The special Mother’s Day Brunch-Tea includes champagne and strawberries with a choice of hot or iced loose leaf tea, fresh fruit and scones, served with Devonshire cream, lemon curd and fruit preserves. The entrees include a choice of Rolled Pork Loin with dried fruit and herbs or Charred Sugar crusted Alaska Salmon.
