Round House Grill adds spice to night life

Owners, Shannon and husband Jeff, shake up cocktails behind the bar at Round house Grill

It’s Thursday night in Livermore…and the downtown area is usually quiet by 10pm. But from the sounds of music and laughter emanating from the Round House Grill on First Street, it looks like things are about to change…for the better! Says Shannon Becker, “It turned out to be really fun…there were a lot of people dancing. I’m big into music and I really had a blast!” Shannon and her husband Jeff had heard about the debut of ‘Thursday Night- Club Night’ at the Round House Grill and decided to join their friends for an evening of dancing and music. “I was really impressed,” she adds. “I am so glad we decided to go.”

‘Thursday Night-Club Night’ at Round House Grill certainly seems to have got off to an exciting start. And it’s great news for the fun-loving crowd who’d like to party after the sun goes down. ..right here in Livermore! DJ DeNiro’s eclectic mix of music certainly electrified the crowd. Big screen videos and cool lighting created the perfect night club atmosphere.

Round House owners Janet and Steve Haverland had long toyed with the idea of this night-club type feature. Customers, enamored with the restaurant’s interiors, especially the eye-catching bar with its neon-blue lights and big screen TVs often talked about the same idea. It took a great deal of planning and effort, but the Haverlands are truly excited to bring a new dimension in late-night entertainment to downtown Livermore. “We will have a dress code,” says Janet Haverland. “We want to do this in a classy way. People want to dress nice and go out for the evening.”

Rachael Snedecor, CEO of Livermore Downtown, Inc. agrees. “They are certainly working to attract the right clientele,” says Snedecor. “We work closely with such businesses to create an open dialogue. I think it’s going to be a really great destination place!”

The round House Grill will continue to be a favorite dining place for customers like Leslie and Don Faught. Says Leslie Faught,” We particularly love the festive atmosphere. Steve (Godwin) the bartender is wonderful. He always remembers what we like to drink. And manager Lou (Hill) always makes us feel very comfortable. It’s almost a ‘Cheers’-like atmosphere.” She is, of course, referring to the well-known television show. And that says a great deal for the cheerful, friendly atmosphere at Round House Grill. Don Faught is V.P. and Managing Broker for Alain Pinel Realtors and has an office in the same building. He tells us that the Haverlands and their staff are very accommodating. Don Faught has used the place for business meetings as well. The couple enjoy the delicious new menu items. “One of my favorites is the Chicken Picatta and the Chicken Caesar. They are very, very good,” says Leslie Faught, appreciatively.

Stacy Castro and husband Dan also like to meet up with friends at Round House for dinner. “I like that you can create your own dinner,” says Stacy Castro, referring to the Mongolian Grill. Shaun Steffenauer, one of the managers at Round House elaborates on this unlimited, buffet-style meal. He tells us that customers can choose their own meats, sea-foods, pastas, veggies and sauces and then have them freshly prepared on the grill by the presiding chef. Rice and tortillas are brought to the table.

The restaurant also offers a separate Kids Menu and a new a-la-carte menu that the Faughts especially enjoy. Says Steffenauer “You can have a lot of fun here, inter-acting with family and friends. The Vegas-style bar attracts a lot of attention, just by its looks. And we probably have the widest selection of alcohol in Livermore,” he adds.

Indeed, more than one customer mentioned their special signature drinks like the Meringue Martini, Pineapple Martini and Chocolate-banana concoction. Stacy Castro tells us that her husband Dan enjoys the wine and beers. Says Stacy, “ We usually end up staying late because we really enjoy the atmosphere here.” The couple enjoy the fabulous music selections and plan to join friends for the ‘Thursday Night-Club Night’ in the near future. “It’s so upbeat,” she says, “That’s a great way to describe this place. We just love it!”
